The award-winning International Centre of Excellence in Water Resources Management (ICE WaRM) is Australia’s leading broker of education, training and research in water resources management. Established in 2004 as an Australian Government initiative, ICE WaRM provides a national focus and international gateway to Australia’s education, training and research expertise in water.
ICE WaRM initiated Australia’s first Master of Water Resources Management programme, with Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate options, offered collaboratively by partner universities, which attracts students from Australia, Asia and South America. The Centre also hosts award-winning Professional Development Programmes and Study Tours for representatives of international governments and water agencies, and assists in the development of industry- and community-focused research.
ICE WaRM operates as a consortium of Australia’s leading research and education providers to create innovative education and training for the water industry. The Centre contributes to sustainable water resources management by further developing Australia’s suite of research, education and training programmes to meet national and international needs. The role of ICE WaRM is to broker or facilitate collaborative activities between founding shareholders and other partners, associates and supporters as principal providers. ICE WaRM facilitates collaboration in water-related research, education and training, and provides opportunities for national and international scholars to advance their careers. Flagship activities focus on the pursuit of excellence in water, through partnerships in education and training, for formal awards and other structured programmes, and in applied research.
ICE WaRM Education (Award Courses)
The nested Master of Water Resources Management, with Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma options, is a highly flexible programme offered collaboratively by all ICE WaRM partner universities, with others able to contribute. It provides the core elements of sustainable water management, as well as multiple specialist studies and industry or research project choices. ICE WaRM assists access to the water-related studies best suited to your requirements.

Examples include hosting international delegations of high-level decision-makers through to individually-tailored technical training of trainers.
Award-winning ICE WaRM Professional Development Programmes, designed to meet the needs of participants and their organisations, combine formal and informal learning, English language training as required, and industry and field application, with structured workshops and networking with corresponding specialists.

ICE WaRM facilitates applied, collaborative water-related research, among and between the best Australian and international researchers in their fields. These initiatives are often designed across traditional boundaries, real or imagined, such as between disciplines, institutions, territories and nations, and between researchers, water management agencies and industry. The focus is on collaboration with practical outcomes.
