River and Floodplain Modelling
If you need to learn about computational methods in flow and flood contexts, this course provides professional training and practice in an industry-standard computer program, HEC-RAS. HEC-RAS is an industry standard computer program that performs fully dynamic computations and can be used to account for channel and floodplain storage, time varying tidal boundaries and routes full hydrographs through dendritic and looped channel networks.
Through a series of practical exercises, participants will develop a sound knowledge of river and floodplain modelling and the theory behind it.

Presenter:
Dr Jaya Kandasamy
(Senior Lecturer, Department of Infrastructure and the Environment, University of Technology Sydney)
Dr. Jaya Kandasamy is a specialist in computational hydraulics and well known for the HEC-RAS courses presented around Australia and overseas over the last 13 years.
He has considerable experience in a wide range of hydraulic models and has published in leading international journals.
Prior to joining UTS he was employed in the NSW Government for a period of 14 years most recently in the Department of Natural Resources, his principal activity involved providing the department with high level technical modelling capability in support of the departments programs.
