Hydraulics and Hydrology for Non-Engineers

Working in water can throw up some technical problems and questions and if you are not an engineer, then your ability to have an influence on work issues is restricted, especially if you work in planning or development. This course is designed to meet that need, providing training in the basic principles of hydraulics and hydrology for people with no formal training in water engineering, enabling them to understand the movement of water through pipes and open channel systems (hydraulics) and the occurrence and distribution of water (hydrology). The course includes instruction and guided exercises (calculators provided) in the use of the basic formulae of water engineering.

On completion of this workshop, course participants will better understand the principles of water engineering theory and why particular design solutions have been proposed.
