The goal of the proposed PDP was to respond to the growing challenges in sustainable water management in Sub-Saharan Africa by stimulating leadership, learning, innovation and sharing of experience through an intensive, tailored, multi-mode and multi-country professional development programme. The aim was to rapidly build participants’ understanding, knowledge and skills in how to successfully innovate, pool resources and lead at a critical time for the sustainable management of water resources in Sub-Saharan Africa, when change, demand and the need (and opportunity) for regional cooperation are all accelerating rapidly. The PDP was highly successful in all areas by supporting learning of new knowledge and skills, sharing of practices, development of skills and establishing networks.
