ICE WaRM Has Key Role in International Conference

Water Down Under 2008 LogoWater Down Under 2008 – one of the major international water conferences of the year – is being staged in Adelaide in April.

ICE WaRM is a co-convenor and major sponsor of this event, to be held  at the Adelaide Convention Centre 15-17th April, which is attracting presenters and participants from across the world.

The major themes of the conference include:

  • Climate
  • Rainfall and Surface Water Variability
  • Hydrological Modelling
  • Data and Forecasting
  • Water Management and Sustainability
  • National and International Water Issues and Case Studies
  • Groundwater Systems

Among the high-profile speakers are Professor Peter Loucks from Cornell University in the , Professor Ezio Todini from the University of Bologna in , Emeritus Professor Ghislain de Marsily from the University Paris VI in France and Dr Jim Gill – Chief Executive Officer of the Water Corporation of Western Australia.

One of the sessions will be an International Water Resources Management Workshop on Climate Change and its Impact on Global Water Resources, while other workshops will examine Australian Rainfall and Runoff, Integrated Catchment Modelling and Water System Optimisation.

Field trips will be conducted to the Hahndorf dissipater, the Cox Creek Catchment, Mt Bold Reservoir and the Willunga Basin.

The conference incorporates the 31st Hydrology and Water Resources Symposium and the Fourth International Conference on Water Resources and Environment Research.
