Water research awarded for excellence and innovation

Thursday, 27 June, 2019

ICE WaRM congratulates the Goyder Institute for Water Research for winning the Minister’s Award for Excellence at the Water Industry Alliance’s, 2019 Smart Water Awards.

Sponsored by the South Australian Department for Environment and Water, this award recognises the overall excellence of the Institute’s contribution to sustainable water management through its collaborative and innovative work and its impact upon decision making.

The institute also received the Innovation in Large Organisations Award for the Climate Resilience Analysis Framework and Tools (CRAFT) project, in which new methods and tools were developed to help water planners and policy-makers assess the impact of climate change on water resource systems and guide adaptation planning.

The project was recognised as world class, showing an ability to adapt to the changing world around us. The awards also highlight the Institute’s ability to work together with other organisations for the greater good.

The Goyder Institute for Water Research is a collaborative partnership between the South Australian Government through the Department for Environment and Water, CSIRO, Flinders University, the University of Adelaide, the University of South Australia and ICE WaRM.

ICE WaRM provides knowledge adoption for the Institute’s projects to expand the reach of its research to a wider audience within Australia and internationally. One of the ways we achieve this is through our free webinars through the Australian Water School. You can view upcoming webinars on projects by the Goyder Institute here.

The Institute brings together Australia’s top water scientists to provide research and independent expert advice to find new ways of saving, accessing and delivering water. This research enhances the South Australian Government’s capacity to develop and deliver science-based policy solutions in water management. It also underpins the sustainable development of South Australia and strengthens its position as an international leader in water resource management.

“The award is a testament to all of the Institute’s partners – the South Australian Government, CSIRO, Flinders University, the University of Adelaide, the University of South Australia and ICE WaRM,” said Dr Kane Aldridge, Director of the Goyder Institute.

“It demonstrates the value of collaboration as well as the Institute’s ability to bring together experts and policy-makers from across the sector to solve complex water resource issues.”

If you have a complex water issues that the Institute could assist with solving, please contact Dr Kane Aldridge. To learn more about the Goyder Institute for Water Research click here and subscribe to the newsletter to stay connected.
